Keraton Yogyakarta – The Sultanate

Yogyakarta Sultanate (Keraton Yogyakarta) is a few left of monarchy in Indonesia. It placed in the Yogyakarta or Jogja, Java Islands. Formed in 1755 and now still existing eventhough it is only as Sultanate not as a government. It remains one of kingdom inside Indonesia with Hamengkubuwono as the most known names. Now the current ruler of Yogyakarta is his son, Sri Sultan Hamengkubuwono X.

The existence of culture and life spirit of Yogyakarta is still tight. These Sultanate Keraton Yogyakarta now open as major tourist attraction which has many unique sightseeing. The royal guards, which call abdi dalem, still dedicate their life to these kingdom. Museum collections, and traditional dance also very interesting. Kraton still become Sultan and his family live. It is located in the center of Yogyakarta.
